Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about our school. If you have further questions pertaining to your child please contact us at info@tnaacs.org.

When is the application due?

All families must apply prior to April 1st in order to be entered in the TNAACS lottery. Families that apply after the April 1st deadline will be placed on the waitlist. If there is space available TNAACS will enroll students through December 31st for the current school year.

When is the Birthdate cut off for Kindergarten?

New York City public schools mandate that children who turn 5 years old by Dec. 31

When is the TNAACS school lottery?

The 2023-2024 school year lottery will be held on April 4th at 5:00PM. Please contact us directly at info@tnaacs.org for more details.

What are the school hours?

The school day begins at 8:30am. TNAACS  offers an early arrival option for 7:30am.  All students are dismissed at 3:30pm.

Where do students go after the 5th grade?

TNAACS students and families are guided by our in house Student Support Counselor Mrs. Gonzalez. She will meet individually with families to ensure that students have completed all applications necessary to continue their academic success. Many of our students have gone on to exceptional schools including: Medger Evars, Philippa Schuyler, New York City Charter School of the Arts, Brooklyn Lab, and Launch Expeditionary Learning Charter School. When do we hear from TNAACS about my child’s application?

Families will be notified by email the night of the lottery. Families who are accepted will have two weeks to confirm their child’s seat before the waitlist will open.

What if we missed the application deadline and lottery?

TNAACS applications will remain open through December 30th for the school year. Interested families should continue to complete the online application to be entered on the waitlist. Families will be contacted and provided an update to their application status once the application has been submitted.

Does TNAACS provide bus transportation?

TNAACS partners with the Department of Transportation to receive the yellow school bus as a service for our students. Contact info@tnaacs.org to directly connect with one of our staff members to learn how you could be eligible for busing.

Does TNAACS provide an after school program?

We partner with Roads to Success Create (RTS) to offer an enriching after school program on site. Students who register for the RTS program are dismissed directly to the after school staff at 3:30pm.

Are meals provided?

We understand that it can be a long school day for young students. TNAACS offers a free healthy snack to all our students. In addition, all NYC students attending school in person will be offered free breakfast and lunch daily in school.
